On June 9, 2013, Maureen Kelly, known as “Anu,” disappeared from Canyon Creek Campground in Washington.
Anu, a 19-year-old described as laid-back and affectionate, told friends she was embarking on a “spiritual quest.”She left the campground without clothes, carrying only a fanny pack with knives, matches, and a compass. Despite an extensive search by authorities and volunteers, Anu was never found.
Theories surrounding Anu’s disappearance include:
- Hypothermia: Temperatures were low the night she went missing, and Anu’s lack of clothing makes hypothermia a possible cause.
- Accidental injury: The rugged terrain and lack of supplies could have led to an accident.
- Foul play: While not the leading theory, the possibility of foul play has not been ruled out.
Anu’s case remains unsolved, leaving her family and friends heartbroken and desperate for answers.
