Haruchika “Haru” Miyagi, a 34-year-old entrepreneur from American Fork, Utah, vanished under baffling circumstances on December 5, 2015. His last known location was a remote property in Dewey, Arizona, hundreds of miles from his home. Miyagi’s disappearance remains unsolved, leaving his family and friends desperate for answers.
The Disappearance
On December 3, 2015, Miyagi posted a cryptic message on Facebook: “The power of giving is important. Want to give as much as possible. It’s called Karma.” This was his last communication with anyone. Two days later, he appeared on a private property in Dewey, Arizona, driving his red 2002 Mazda Protege.
He asked the homeowner for a place to stay, but she refused and advised him to seek lodging in Prescott Valley. Miyagi then drove off, crashing through a gate. His abandoned car was found two hours later, heavily damaged, in a nearby wash. There was no sign of Miyagi.
The Investigation
Four days later, a search began involving search crews and dogs. Despite their efforts, no trace of Miyagi was found. His cell phone last pinged a nearby tower shortly after he left the residence, then was turned off. Miyagi’s family reported him missing after he failed to show up for work. His reasons for traveling to Arizona remain unknown.
The Case Today
Haruchika Miyagi’s case remains unsolved. Both Utah and Arizona authorities continue to investigate, seeking any leads that might shed light on his whereabouts. Miyagi was last seen wearing a blue jacket, blue pants, and Vans shoes. He has a tattoo of his name in Chinese characters on his left arm. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office or the American Fork Police Department.
